There is increasing, although indirect evidence, that the American diet is linked to the severity of the pandemic in the United States. So, with some reservations, given that this topic ranges far afield from my area of expertise, I will attempt to connect the dots between catching the virus and suffering from its complications by looking at the immune system, pre-existing conditions, the standard American diet, and ultra-processed foods. This will be a challenge, but let’s go for it.
